We are excited to announce that we have received approv- als from “Parks Canada”, “Canadian Coast Guard”, and “Officer-in-Charge, Sable Island” to operate amateur radio from October 8 – 17, 2012.
We should note, however, that our permit to operate in- cludes several new restrictions on antennas (in addition to the traditional restrictions for Sable). The purpose of these re- strictions are to minimize the environmental impact on the migratory bird population that may be present during the peri- od that we are on Sable Island.
We feel fortunate to have received the trust of “Parks Can- ada” for this operation and consider it a privilege to be able to visit Sable Island. We will cooperate fully with these new re- strictions to minimize potential environmental impact to the protected bird species.
In the days ahead, we will assess the impact that these ad- ditional antenna restrictions may have on our operations and any adjustments that we may need to take relative to antennas that we will take to Sable Island. Further details of our operat- ing plans will be posted to .
This will be our third attempt to get to Sable island (previous attempts, December 2010 and December 2011)
