The VU7M Lakshadweep (Laccadives) operation is underway. VU2PTT, Prasad, says the pileups can be big so he gave them the suggestion to split 2-5 kHz on CW and 5-15 kHz on SSB. VU7M went on the air at 1800 India Standard Time on August 13. They are on 20, 17, 15, 12 and 10M from the Minicoy Lighthouse. The first station is an FT-757GX, 100 watts, to a multiband dipole, CW and occasionally SSB.
The operators are VU2LX, VU2UR and VU2JHM. A second station is scheduled to start up this Saturday from the Minicoy PWD Guesthouse with an IC757ProII and FT-897 to a 5-band homebrew hex beam and SteppIR vertical on SSB and digital, VU2LU and VU2GGM operating. The operation continues until August 23.
