NH8S, Swains Island, is scheduled for September 5-19 with 20 operators, 16 of them American, one Swede, two Germans and one South African. Swains is number 30 on the world most wanted list. ZS1FJ, Barry, says the group has a goal of 300 QSOs per hour. Before leaving home, he particularly wants to hear from stations in his home region, ZS, V5, Z2, A2, 7P, 3DA and C9, who want to work him, so he can particularly listen for them and get beam headings. He will need UTC times that these stations believe they will have openings to the South Pacific. Contact him at bf207@starhub.net.sg. The NH8S group will fly from Honolulu to Pago Pago, American Samoa, then have 24 hours on a charter boat to Swains, and will have no communications then until the ham rigs are operational, seven stations. The team will be living in tents and have two cooks along from Pago Pago.
Barry is taking along a South African flag and a Singaporean flag (He also has the 9V1FJ callsign) to display during the operation. The logs will be uploaded by satellite link every day. If you have ClubLog you will see the photo and name of the op you work.
